VOLUNTEER

With the retirement of Trail Boss Randy Peterson, a program was implemented to help maintain the trail that Randy had taken care of everyday for 18 years. Adoption groups commit to a portion of the trail with the expectation of performing trail maintenance and repairs on a regular basis. Duties include picking up litter, cutting back brush, mowing, leaf cleanup, invasive plant control and reporting damage, vandalism or other harmful predicaments.

Known for strong partnerships with community businesses, schools, service and military organizations, some have adopted a section of trail:

Kiwanis Club of Silverdale, Silverdale Sunrise Lions, Command Submarine Group 9, Kitsap Atheists and Agnostics, Naval Operational Support Center, Naval Hospital Bremerton, Boy Scout Troop 4554, Trident Inn Galley, and the USCG Sea Devil.

Each year, larger work parties such as January’s Martin Luther King Family Service Day, April’s Earth Day, June’s National Trails Day and United Way’s Day of Caring are other events that bring volunteers together to “get ‘er done.”

Volunteer Anytime 

Clear Creek Trail loves do it yourself volunteers who help maintain the Trail. The guidelines guarantee hours of free, fun recreation.  When you walk the Trail carry a small pair of garden clippers so when you encounter a sagging branch or a blackberry vine creeping across the Trail, you can give it a quick snip.

A plastic bag comes in handy when you see litter along the trail. Garbage cans are located at the Interpretive Center, Ridgetop Pavilion, All Star Lanes, Markwick Park, Dog/Skate Park, and Schold Road Trailhead.
